Garage Door and Opener Replacement

There are a number of reasons to replace your garage door.

Appearance:

The garage door is often a prominent part of home design.  An old, weathered, or damaged door can detract from the overall appearance and value of a home.  Few things can result in a quicker and more dramatic improvement than replacing a tired old garage door.

The good news for today's door shopper is the many styles from which to choose.  Our primary supplier, C.H.I. Overhead Doors, is at the forefront of door design and product development.  Whether you are looking for wood, steel, aluminum or fiberglass, the options have never been greater.  Call for product information, or follow the link to chiohd.com.

Safety:

The garage door is the largest moving thing on a house.  Regular inspections and proper maintenance are critically important.  It is not uncommon for a door to collapse on top of a vehicle.  In most cases routine service measures will prevent such accidents.  Don't wait for someone to get hurt.  Schedule a safety inspection today.

Security:

Some doors are thin, too thin.  One well-known builders-grade door routinely collapses in a 37 mph wind.  Others are only marginally better.  Even if your door never sees a 37 mph wind,  an intruder could push such a door out of the way.  Don't buy a cheap door, and don’t make it easy for criminals.  Consider a thicker door or an insulated door for added security.

Comfort:

In the summer is your garage hotter than the outside temperature?  Many people raise their door 6 or 8 inches to let out some of the heat.  An insulated door may be part of the solution.  Slow the heat infiltration, and avoid the security risk of having the door partially open.

Do you have a room over the garage?  Do you use the garage as a workshop?  Does the garage double as plant storage over the winter months?  These are other reasons to consider an insulated garage door.  Maybe you just prefer the strength and the quieter operation that an insulated door affords.

Shopping Tip:

Brochures are great but...

When shopping for a door, brochures are a good place to start.  However, every supplier has attractive brochures.  It is a good idea to look at door samples or at completed jobs.  It is also good if you can look at materials and workmanship after 3 or 4 years.
